Guideline #5 – Evaluate Impact – Before, During and After Strategic Growth Actions
There are many reasons why evaluation is conducted by high-performing nonprofits. Evaluation informs program and service development. It reveals characteristics of the customers served. It demonstrates service effectiveness and provides evidence of outcomes and impacts. Evaluations inform leaders about what works and what doesn’t. Evaluations provide funders with evidence that an organization is worthy of support. Outcome and impact evaluations provide capital investors with the information they need to consider the risks and worthiness of their investment in an organization’s endeavors.
