Guideline #6 – System Shock – Leadership Structures and Governance Cultures that Soar
There are four general ways in which leadership and governance are shared and distributed through nonprofits and for-profits that have a social purpose are reviewed. Each nonprofit leader either consciously or unconsciously organizes, leads, and governs people to accomplish the nonprofit’s mission. Determine what values, beliefs and rules for behavior you currently have and want to embrace. Do so with intention and earnest. Four very different cultures are discussed. There are others, but the four featured are the dominate leadership and governance cultures present.
